18. Overview

This chapter shows you how to carry out common tasks on any of the consoles and modules, including:

Groups of tasks are handled by two administrative consoles, and several optional end user modules.

Configuration and maintenance
Part [*] - Installation and Configuration of this manual shows you how to use the Central console (nph-psa.exe) to configure ID-Synch.

Part [*] - Post-installation of this manual shows you how to use the Central console (nph-psa.exe) to carry out ongoing maintenance and reporting tasks.

Access change requests and authorization workflow
Users submit requests for new, changed, or terminated systems access. Requests are automatically validated, filled out with attributes such as Profile ID, and routed to assigned authorizers. The authorizers review open requests and approve or reject them.

See HERE to understand how ID-Synch is used in requesting, authorizing, and managing account changes, and inventory provisioning.

Central and delegated user administration
Administrators, known as console users, use the Account management console (nph-ida.exe) to manage change requests where an existing workflow process is used. ID-Synch implements the changes on target systems. Console users can either be a core group of security administrators who manage all users on all systems, or local managers who manage a subset of users on a subset of systems.

See HERE to learn how to carry out user administrative tasks.
