16.2 Configuring ID-Synch targets to use the proxy server

It is recommended that you only use the DNS name to reference the proxy service. IP addresses can change so using the DNS name prevents potential problems from occurring.

Note:
When setting up the proxy servers, ensure that you reference the proxy service the same way each time (either by the IP address or DNS name only).

If you reference some target systems using the IP address and others using the DNS name, the updproxy utility attempts to update both during the nightly update process. It will not recognize that they are the same machine. This is problematic because every time UPDPROXY runs, The log files are rotated and some files may be lost if rotated too quickly.

To configure ID-Synch targets to use the proxy server:

  1. Log into Central console (nph-psa.exe) on the main ID-Synch server.
  2. From the Target configuration menu click Target systems.
  3. Click Update next to the target system you want to configure.
  4. Type the servername and port number for the proxy server in the List of proxies to run list/agents on field in the format: servername/portnumber. If there are multiple proxy servers, separate them with a semi-colon.
  5. Click Update at the bottom of the page.
