14.1 Overview

This chapter shows you how to configure workflow objects in ID-Synch, for both console administration and automated workflow. You must at least define templates so that ID-Synch can create accounts. Other objects are optional depending on the needs of your organization.

Before you start, it is recommended that you document all workflow processes and requirements. See part [*] - Pre-installation for more information.

14.1.1 Configuration process

The first time you access the workflow configuration menu, you are directed automatically to the Plug-ins and mail configuration page. You must set up the minimum requirements of:
BASE IDSYNCH URL
The base URL for the ID-Synch server. This is the URL that will display in e-mails to direct recipients to the ID-Synch application. The URL must be in the format:
http:\\$<$servername$>$ or
https:\\$<$servername$>$.
RECIPIENT EMAIL
The e-mail address of the ID-Synch administrator who should receive notification of events relating to the running of the server.

Once you have configured at least those two variables, you can click Back to access the Workflow configuration menu or Main to access the Central console main menu.

It is recommended that you configure these workflow items in the following order: -

  1. Authorizers
  2. Locations and types (required for inventory templates, optional for account templates and account groups)
  3. Templates

You can then configure these workflow items if required:

14.1.2 Navigating from the workflow configuration menu

Navigation from the Workflow configuration menu works in similar ways for all workflow objects.

When creating an object for the first time, clicking the menu item directs you to the configuration form.

If objects already exist, you will first see a list page or a search page. This will depend on how many objects exist and what the configured find threshold is. See HERE for more information about searches.

For example, to create additional authorizers:

  1. From the Workflow configuration menu click Authorizers.

    ID-Synch displays:

    1767

    OR:

    1770

  2. Click Add

ID-Synch displays the Authorizer information form.

  3. Proceed to set up the authorizer
