Subsections

13.1 Modifying general behavior

This section describes behaviors you can set globally for consoles and modules. On the Web Modules menu, click Options to access the Web module options configuration page.

You can override some default behaviors for individual consoles and modules. For example, you might want the Account management console (nph-ida.exe) to have a longer inactivity timeout period for a session.

13.1.1 Confirming changes on major operations

To safeguard against accidental deletion, users are required to select a check box before clicking the Delete button for most items. Disabling the CONFIRM CHANGES variable will remove these check boxes.

13.1.2 Setting the inactivity timeout period

By default, ID-Synch shuts a user out after 600 seconds of inactivity. To change the default inactivity timeout for a session, ensure the DEFAULT EXPIRY SECONDS variable is enabled and type the number of seconds required.

You can override this global variable for each individual console/module by setting the
$<$X$>$ EXPIRY SECONDS variable in the configuration page for the console/module.

13.1.3 Modifying the threshold to display items

The find threshold determines the maximum number of items that ID-Synch lists without requiring users to enter search criteria. You can modify the threshold by entering a new value for the
FIND THRESHOLD variable.

If the find threshold is disabled, ID-Synch always displays a search page. See HERE for more information about searching in ID-Synch web pages.

13.1.4 Automatic storage/retrieval of field values

After initial login, users may find it useful if some fields are automatically filled in on subsequent logins. ID-Synch can recognize users and automatically populating certain fields using cookies or its database.

Note:
The database method will not work if proxy servers are being used. ID-Synch uses IP to recognize users and retrieve information.

To allow ID-Synch to:

When either method is used ID-Synch will automatically fill in Profile ID and e-mail address fields. Other fields can be set up for automatic setting or filling by editing ID-Synch m4 files. For example, you may want to populate the request notes field with some boilerplate text. Contact M-Tech support for more information.
