13. Configuring Web Modules

Use the Central console (nph-psa.exe) to modify the configuration of the following user modules and administration consoles to meet the demands of your organization:

Front-end authentication module (nph-psf.exe)
This is the login and authentication module for all users. Clicking the Home button will return users to this module.

Central console (nph-psa.exe)
Used by administrators with assigned rights to configure:

Account management console (nph-ida.exe)
Used by users with assigned rights to manage users, accounts, and login IDs on target systems.

ID approval module (nph-idi.exe)
When an ID generator plug-in is not used, this module is used by authorizers to approve login ID requests.

Request approval module (nph-idp.exe)
Used by authorizers to review and authorize requests.

Request tracking module (nph-ids.exe)
Used by end users who are requesters to check the status of requests.

New account request module (nph-idr.exe)
Used by end users who are requesters to request new accounts for new or existing users.

Modifying configuration variables

Console users with appropriate rights can access the Web Modules configuration menu from the Central console main menu.

All consoles and most modules are enabled by default. Only ID approval module (nph-idi.exe) is disabled as its functions are handled by a default ID plug-in. Other modules can be disabled if they are not required.

To modify the configuration of any of the consoles or modules:

  1. From the Web Modules configuration menu, click the appropriate button for the console or module.

  2. If you want to disable a module, set the ID$<$X$>$ EXT variable to ''Off''.

All modules, except ID approval module (nph-idi.exe), are enabled by default.

  3. Make other changes as required.

Options are described in the sections that follow.

  4. Click Update to submit the changes.

Testing modules

To verify that modules are activated, access the appropriate URL in the following format:

http://$<$servername$>$/idsynch/nph-$<$xxx$>$.exe

For example, the URL for Front-end authentication module (nph-psf.exe) might be:

http://provision/idsynch/nph-psf.exe

You should be able to login with an existing account, or Profile ID, and password.
