12.3 Adding new rules using regular expressions

To provide maximum flexibility, you can define string-matching rules to identify and prevent the use of certain passwords. You do this using regular expressions.

To add a regular expression password rule:

  1. Select Password policy from the Security management menu.
  2. At the bottom of the page, click Add Reg. Exp..
  3. Select the Status.
  4. Type a message to display to the user. The message is preceded by text like Your password must. Example text might be: not begin with the letters SAP.
  5. Type the regular expression. For example, enter: $\wedge$[Ss][Aa][Pp]
  6. Click Update.
