11.2 Setting the target authentication order

When a user logs into ID-Synch using the password authentication method, ID-Synch verifies the password on a trusted system. If a user enters the wrong password during initial authentication, ID-Synch can try the password with a different target system before giving up.

In order for users to access the ID-Synch end user modules, the target order must be configured in the authentication list. Ensure that targets included in the list have the Verify passwords on this target? selected on the Target information page.

To set the order in which ID-Synch attempts to authenticate users on target systems:

  1. Select Authentication list from the Authentication options menu.
  2. Type a number in the appropriate field next to each target to indicate the order in which ID-Synch attempts to authenticate a user on each target.

If a target is not assigned a number, it cannot be used to authenticate users.

  3. Click Update at the bottom of the form.
